Originally from Cuba, and residing in Mexico, pianist and composer began his musical studies at the age of five, training in piano with Professor Gonzalo Gutiérrez, in vocal repertoire with Professor Enrique Jaso, and in conducting with Professor Gonzalo Romeu.
During a career spanning more than twenty-five years, he has accompanied internationally noted singers, including Ramón Vargas, Rolando Villazón, Javier Camarena, Joseph Calleja, Kate Lindsey, Nathalie Manfrino, Franco Vassallo, Ailyn Pérez, Alfredo Daza, Église Gutiérrez, Fernando de la Mora, Cassandra Zoé, Rosario Andrade, Timothy Robert Blevens, Rebeca Olvera, Arturo Chacón, Maria Katzarava, Carlos Almaguer, José Bross, and Dario Solari amongst many others.
He has played in the most prestigious concert venues in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, including the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Termi di Caracalla in Rome, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Kennedy Center in Washington, the Harris Theater in Chicago, and the prestigious Rosenblatt Recitals in London.
He participated in the documentary Rolando Villazón ’A Mexican Dream’, accompanying the tenor in a program which was broadcast on the Arts Channel. He also performed in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, was a soloist with the Moscow-based Kremlin Chamber Orchestra and also performed before Spanish King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sophia.
He has played with the Opera de Cuba as well as with the Opera de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, with a repertoire of more than ninety works, working with singers including Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, and Anna Netrebko.
His discography includes two CDs with the celebrated tenor Javier Camarena and one with mezzo soprano María Luisa Tamez.
At present, Rodríguez gives masterclasses in Italian opera interpretation and style in Mexico, in addition to his work as a recitalist with renowned opera singers and its important facet of arranger and music producer.
